1983 CADILLAC DEVILLE

Few changes were evident in the bodies of DeVille or Fleetwood coupe and sedan models, though underneath the exhaust system was modified. The refined new grille was similar to 1982 with narrow vertical bars separated into three rows, but Cadillac script moved from the upper horizontal bar to the side of the grille itself, leaving that upper bar bare. Distinctive taillamps carried on Cadillac's traditional style. On the hood was a stand-up hood ornament; on the decklid, Cadillac's "V" and crest. Lengths reached as long as 221 inches, while prices began at $15,970. Horsepower rose by 10 on the HT-4100 Digital Fuel Injected 4.1 liter V-8. The miserly (if troublesome) 5.7-liter diesel was available on DeVille and Fleetwood Brougham models. Standard interior was Heather knit cloth with matching Dundee ribbed cloth inserts. Saddle leather was also available. DeVille d'Elegance offered pillow-style seating in Venetian velour, a six-way power passenger seat, special trim, accent striping, and opera lamps. The Cabriolet version of Coupe DeVille added an Elk Grain vinyl partial roof, in color to match the car body, with bright crossover roof molding.
