The sporty F-body Firebird had few changes for 1987.
The dropping of the SE coupe was the big one.
A new Formula option was offered.
A body-color aero spoiler with a high-mounted stoplight embedded in it was one change.
Base Firebirds also had a new seat with adjustable headrest and Ripple cloth upholstery.
New options included
body-color body side moldings
molded door panel trim (except GTA)
availability of the Y99 performance suspension on base models
A 5.7-liter multi-port fuel injected V-8 performance engine was optional in cars with the Formula package and standard in the GTA, which was itself a new Trans Am option.
A four-way manual adjustable seat was now standard in Trans Ams.
