Introduction

  • Pontiac's fourth-generation Firebird arrived in 1993 with 90 percent new content.
  • This radical revision found most every component of the Firebird completely new or extensively updated.
  • The full line:
    • Firebird
    • Firebird Formula
    • Trans Am
  • Included among the many changes for 1993 were
    • a 68-degree windshield angle
    • new aluminum wheels
    • new tires
    • composite body panels that were resistant to minor impacts and rust
    • new instrumentation
    • a locking glove box
    • new front and rear suspensions
  • A new 3.4-liter V-6 was standard on the Firebird and an LT1 5.7-liter V-8 was standard on Formula and Trans Am models.
  • A six-speed manual transmission was also standard on Formulas and Trans Ams.
  • Other new features included
    • advanced four-wheel antilock brakes (standard on Firebirds with four-wheel disc brakes including all Formulas and Trans Ams)
    • dual front airbags
    • A keyless entry system was now available on all Firebirds and standard on Trans Ams
  • Colors offered in 1993 were:
    • Dark Green Metallic
    • Yellow
    • Bright Red
    • Medium Red Metallic
