1982 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD

Two Fleetwoods were available this year: The Fleetwood Brougham as a 2-door coupe and a 4-door sedan; and a Fleetwood Limousine as a 4-door sedan, 4-door formal limousine, and a commercial chassis.

FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM

Priced nearly $3000 higher, Brougham coupes and sedans looked similar to their DeVille brothers from the front, with the same new three-row grille made up of narrow vertical bars. Standard equipment included
  • a stand-up wreath and crest hood ornament
  • Twilight Sentinel
  • illuminated entry system
  • controlled-cycle wipers
  • tilt/telescope steering wheel
  • six-way power seat for driver and passenger
Dual Comfort 55/45 front seats held three people and were trimmed in exclusive Fleetwood design, using Heather knit with Raphael cloth inserts. Eight colors of leather were also available. The coupe carried a distinctive Elk Grain vinyl Cabriolet roof with large quarter windows and electro-luminescent opera lamps. A chrome crossover molding highlighted its forward edge.

Sedans had a small (limousine-style) back window and full Elk Grain vinyl roof, with Cadillac's wreath-and-crest insignia on the rear roof (sail) panels. A Brougham nameplate stood at the back of rear fenders. Color-keyed vaned wheel covers were new. Optional: authentic wire wheels. Brougham d'Elegance offered tufted upholstery in cloth or leather, with 50/50 Dual Comfort seats, special trim and identifying scripts, and special wheel covers to match the body color.

FLEETWOOD LIMOUSINE

While the innovative (but flawed) variable-displacement V8-6-4 engine no longer powered other Cadillacs, it remained active under limousine hoods for several more years. Fleetwood's standard limo seated eight. For an extra thousand dollars or so, the Formal limo held seven, with a sliding glass partition between compartments. A second control panel let passengers adjust temperature and power windows. Heather cloth interior came in black or dark gray-blue. Front compartment of the Formal limo was black, with black leather in seating areas.
