1989 CADILLAC SEVILLE



The Seville offered several interior improvements and new standard features. Cadillac depicted the touring sedan option (a YP6) as featuring "European styling, exclusive appointments, performance and road manners that make [it] a driver's car in the European tradition." The Seville's color choice was revised to include a white diamond finish for the standard Seville and the replacement of black metallic with sable black. A total of 18 colors were offered. The bird's eye maple trim also used for the Eldorado was standard for the Seville. The 1988 Elegante seat was now standard. The new Tampico carpets were protected by front and rear mats with the same design as those used on other Cadillacs. The Seville also had the VATS installed on the 1989 Eldorado. New standard equipment included Cadillac's electrochromic day/night mirror, an engine oil life indicator, driver side express-down window and Delco/Bose II Symphony sound system. Except for the Eldorado's accent molding and snowflake wheels, the Seville shared that model's new standard equipment. Power front passengers and driver recliners and 15 in. cast aluminum lace wheels were also standard for the Seville.

The Seville touring sedan was available in four exterior colors: white diamond, sable black, black sapphire and carmine red. It featured hand-stitched beechwood ultrasoft leather seating areas, anti-lock braking, touring suspension. a 3.3:1 drive ratio, 15 in. cast aluminum alloy wheels and Goodyear Eagle GT+4 blackwall tires. Additional Seville touring sedan (STS) features included an STS grille with flush-mounted wreath and crest, modified front fender with the cornering light moved to the fascia and headlight monitors removed, car-color front lower airdam and body side moldings, matte black export license pocket with bright bead, matte black front bumper impact pads and rear bumper guard vertical insert, car-color outside rearview mirror with black patch, modified Eldorado rear reflexes (moved to bumper), modified export tail lamps with three-color European style lenses, STS nameplate on decklid and an STS exclusive cloisonne deck lid lock cover.

The STS interior was fitted with a 12-way power front seat, manual articulating front seat headrests, center front armrest with cassette and coin/cup storage console trimmed in ultrasoft leather, net-type map pockets, rear bucket seats with integral headrests, center rear console and rear storage compartment, leather-wrapped front and rear door trim panels, door pull straps and overhead pull straps, high-gloss elm burl wood appliques on door trim panels and switch plates, horn pad and bar, instrument panel and front and rear consoles, beechwood thaxton floor carpet and a deck lid liner in tara material with STS logo. Other standard STS features consisted of automatic door locks, illuminated driver and passenger side visor vanity mirrors, illuminated entry system, rear window defogger, theft-deterrent system and trunk mat.
