1936 Cadillac 4-door convertible

The 1936 V-12 Cadillac (series 36-80 and 36-85) was essentially a 1936 V-8 body with a twelve cylinder engine.

  • Performance was greatly improved over previous V-12's.
  • Identification with the hood closed was possible only by reading emblems.
  • Even dual exhaust pipes would no longer identify the V-12.
  • A crossover pipe from left to right manifold resulted in a single exhaust system (with two mufflers in series).
  • Commercial Cars and Chassis also shared the V-8 and the V-12 engines.

  • Engine numbers were on the upper left surface of the generator drive chain housing.
  • Starting: 4110001.
  • Ending: 4110901.
