Styling changes for new DeVilles followed the Series 62 pattern. Equipment features were about the same as the year before. Performance gains from the new engine showed best in the lower range, at 20 to 50 mile per hour traffic driving speeds. A new technical feature was Turbo HydraMatic transmission, also used in Eldorado convertibles and Sixty-Special Sedans A DeVille script, above the lower belt molding at the rear, was continued as an identifier.
Motor serial numbers were located on the left side of the engine block and lefthand frame side bar. |
The first two symbols, "64" identified the model year. |
The third symbol, a letter, designated body type. |
The last six numerical symbols indicated unit production sequence. |
The short-deck Park Avenue sedan, formerly coded with a "D," was discontinued. |
